Abstract

Title: Joglo Without Saka Guru: Eclectically Seeking Other Objects

Joglo is an ideal type of Javanese architecture, highly symbolic and a community identity, because it provides a spatial experience. Now, community activities in public spaces encourage the emergence of new variants of joglo, causing joglo to lose saka guru, both in real and metaphorical senses. Based on Lacanian sublimation theory, the drive of desire presents a 'joglo without saka guru.' This new variant is an object of otherness, producing a new pleasure after the authentic joglo. Analysis of media data from cyberspace channels explains the phenomenon of the loss of joglo. Through Lacanian Melancholy Sublimation, someone finds a substitute for joglo, namely 'joglo without saka guru.' The phenomenological research is qualitative-descriptive, with selected samples according to the research claim, explaining that the composition of the joglo without the saka guru is a real space with a new face, an object that contains pleasure and intersects past memories. The results show that joglo without saka guru has an eclectic aroma, containing fantasia and fetish.
